Keel-laying ceremony for two 96-TEU barges of Tan Cang Waterway Transport Jsc.

On December 19, 2021, the keel-laying ceremony for 02 new self-propelled barges of 96 TEUs took place between Tan Cang Water Transport Joint Stock Company - a subsidiary of Saigon Newport Corporation (TCSG) and An Phat shipbuilding Co., Ltd.
Introduced to the Northern region in 2019, Tan Cang Waterway Transport JSC has shown remarkable progress in the market by its double-digit annual growth rate. The company is currently one of the top waterway transport service providers with the largest market share in the region. This shows the high demand for inland waterway transport and opens up opportunities for cooperation and investment in the Northern region. To adapt to the growth rate of the container market in the North, in 2021, the company initiated to build two new barges with a carrying capacity of 96 TEUs (128 TEUs empty) at An Phat Shipyard, Kim Thanh District, Hai Duong province. Expected to launch in the second quarter of 2022, Tan Cang Waterway JSC will diversify shipping routes, shorten vehicle turnaround time with the motto "Bringing ports closer to customers", optimizing the waterways connecting key economic regions of Bac Ninh and Bac Giang to Hai Phong port cluster through Tan Cang Que Vo ICD in Bac Ninh and the focused port system of Saigon Newport including Tan Cang – Hai Phong International Container Terminal (TC-HICT), TC-128, TC-189 and other ports in the region.
