Saigon Newport Corporation attends VIFFAs' conference

On 03/12/2011, Saigon Newport Corporation delegations attended “Integrating import-export to logistics – improving your competitive advantage” conference held by Vietnam Freight - Forwarders Association (Viffas) in Saigon Palace Hotel. Participating at the conference, there were Viffas’s BOD, Ms Alison Windsor – Manager International Trade Development of Halifax Port, the delegation of Ho Chi Minh city Customs, representatives of importing-exporting companies, warehousing companies, port operators, and media representatives.

On 03/12/2011, Saigon Newport Corporation delegations attended “Integrating import-export to logistics – improving your competitive advantage” conference held by Vietnam Freight - Forwarders Association (Viffas) in Saigon Palace Hotel. Participating at the conference, there were Viffas’s BOD, Ms Alison Windsor – Manager International Trade Development of Halifax Port, the delegation of Ho Chi Minh city Customs, representatives of importing-exporting companies, warehousing companies, port operators, and media representatives.
During the conference, there were 9 topics discussed, focusing on typical issues such as the difficulties in logistics arising from cargoes features, transporting insurances, extra additional fees, customs procedure, internal competition, and asynchronous and uncombined functional departments in the logistic chain. Participants paid concentration on the limitation of E-customs application caused by bad quality of internet services, and the policy inconsistency between management authorities.
In the conference, SNP’s representatives gave a presentation on “Approaches from port operators to cut cost and improve competitive advantages”. The presentation gave an overview of the connectivity and comprehensiveness between port subsidiaries to provide customers with all-in-one transporting services to reduce costs and minimize risks while ensuring product’s quality. Besides, the presentation also focused on the multi-method transportation including road way and water way to link customers with national ports, and cargo with neighboring countries. Improving service quality and competitive advantages to save cost for customers by applying advanced management software, shortening time of delivery, reducing vessel handling time, applying e-banking, container x-ray machine, and container sanitation and repairing also pointed in the presentation. The representation was highly appreciated since SNP has play significant role in developing logistics service in Vietnam.
