Saigon Newport Corporation welcomed former French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe

On February 16th, Saigon Newport Corporation welcomed former French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe, who is currently the mayor of Le Havre city, during his visit and work trip in Vietnam from February 13th to 16th.
Representatives from Tan Cang Saigon, led by Deputy General Director Nguyen Thanh Truc, welcomed the delegation from Le Havre at Tan Cang Cai Mep Thi Vai (TCIT) after the delegation visited the deepwater ports in the Cai Mep area. Along with Edouard Philippe, TCSG was honored to receive the French Consul General in Vietnam, the Deputy Mayor in charge of communications for Le Havre, and the directors of a French port, logistics, and shipping companies.
Deputy General Director Nguyen Thanh Truc welcomed and expressed joy at the high-level delegation from Le Havre visiting and working directly at TCIT. He affirmed that France has always been a leading trade, investment, and development aid partner in Europe in Vietnam, with two-way trade recovering rapidly after the COVID-19 pandemic. Vietnam, in general, and TCSG, in particular, always desire to continue receiving France's support to further promote the strong and effective cooperation between Vietnam-France and Vietnam-European Union (EU) relations.

Former Prime Minister of France Edouard Philippe expressed his desire for France to become a gateway for Vietnam's trade access to Europe. He also stated that the potential for the trade development of the two countries is significant. However, the import-export of goods between the French and Vietnamese markets is still limited. He shared that the purpose of this visit to the ports, besides seeking cooperation opportunities to develop trade between the two countries, was also to learn from the experience of the Le Havre government with Vietnamese port enterprises. The Le Havre port has just merged with the Paris and Rouen ports to form the HAROPA port cluster, one of the largest seaports in France. Therefore, the goal of Le Havre city is to learn from the experience of the world's leading seaports to improve port operations.
Both sides shared experiences in waterway transportation of goods in general and port exploitation in particular and promised to continue meeting and exchanging to promote future cooperation.
