Singapore's APL switches 2 wax vessels with bigger 9,200-Teu ships

SINGAPORE shipping group NOL' s container shipping arm APL is temporarily replacing some of the vessels operating its Far East-Middle East (WAX) service with larger 9,200 TEU newbuildings.

The new containerships replace two of the six vessels that APL uses to run the service that range in size from 6,300-8500 TEU, with the phasing in of the APL Vancouver and APL New York this month and next.

Alphaliner reports Japanese transportation and logistics group MOL also provides one 6,300 TEU ship on the WAX service.

The 9,200 TEU newbuildings will be deployed on the Far East-US west coast trade in the second half of the year.
