Tan Cang - Cai Mep terminals have exceeded 100 moves/hour in 6 months from opening of their phase ii (19/7/2011)

Starting operations from January 15th 2011, TCIT (Phase II of Tan Cang – Cai Mep Terminals project of Saigon Newport Corporation) is soon welcoming the 100th mother vessel this July. During the last 6 months of operations, TCIT has proved to be one of the best terminals in Cai Mep region by exceeding an international productivity level of more than 100 moves/hour three times already. First time was on June 14th when the “Hanjin Praha” was dispatched with a net productivity of a 103.4 moves/hour. Second time and the highest record to date of a 114.8 moves/hour was achieved on July 6th for the “Hanjin Pretoria” and the third, 102.9 moves/hour was recorded on July 7th for the “MOL Prestige”. While it normally takes one year or more for a newly-operated terminal to achieve a 100 moves/hour, TCIT only needed 5 months and leveraging the average productivity month by month.
Being a part of Tan Cang – Cai Mep Terminals, which accounts for more than 60% of container market share in Cai Mep area, TCIT is now serving for 4 to 5 mother vessels a week deployed in East/West direct services by the two worldwide alliances of container carriers, TNWA* & CKYH*. Connecting with seven key terminals & ICDs located in HCM area including Tan Cang – Cat Lai Terminal, Tan Cang Terminal, Tanamexco, Transimex, Sotrans, Phuc Long and Phuoc Long, TCIT has handled the throughput volume of more than 100,000 teus during the last 6 months. TCIT has also been served to more than 300 direct shippers and consignees. By steadily increasing its average monthly net productivity and reaching it more than 80 moves/hour in July, TCIT is well proving its operational efficiency and stability.
One of the main urges to TCIT remarkable performance is its full support from shareholder partners including Saigon Newport, MOL, Hanjin Shipping and Wanhai Lines. As the biggest terminal operator in Vietnam, Saigon Newport and its subsidiary TCCT have contributed, shared & supported the dedicated and well-trained staffs and existing logistics facility networks with its two key terminal hubs; Tan Cang – Cat Lai Terminal and Tan Cang Terminal, which enabled TCIT to become a prominent terminal in the area. At the same time, MOL & Hanjin Shipping have played very important roles in establishing strong customer base for TCIT by bringing their services and vessels to TCIT convincing other alliance members of TNWA and CKYH with improving performance of TCIT since beginning of operations. Wanhai has also assisted significantly in improvement of operational efficiency by sharing its invaluable experience in terminal management. TCIT targets a good reputation as a top terminal in Vietnam.
