Tan Cang - Cai Mep Thi Vai Terminal Sets New Monthly Throughput Record with 128,073 TEUs

In August 2026, Tan Cang – Cai Mep Thi Vai Terminal (TCTT) handled 128,073 TEUs, setting its highest monthly throughput since commencing operations. The milestone underscores TCTT’s strong operational capability, service reliability, and continued growth momentum within the Cai Mep – Thi Vai deep-water port cluster.

A New Milestone in Port Operations

With 128,073 TEUs handled in August 2026, TCTT surpassed its previous monthly record of 114,908 TEUs set in May 2025. For the first eight months of 2026, the terminal’s accumulated throughput reached 789,087 TEUs, equivalent to 69.8% of its annual plan.

This result reflects TCTT’s stable operational performance amid continued growth in cargo volume and rising demand for deep-water port services in the Cai Mep – Thi Vai region.

The new throughput milestone was recorded during TCTT’s handling operations for M/V OOCL DAFFODIL, deployed on the AWE4 (USEC2) service operated by COSCO and OOCL.

With a length overall of 367 meters, a deadweight tonnage of 165,318 DWT, and a capacity of 16,828 TEUs, OOCL DAFFODIL is among the largest container vessels currently handled at TCTT. The safe and efficient handling of the vessel contributed to closing August with the highest monthly throughput in the terminal’s operating history.

This achievement continues to demonstrate TCTT’s capability to accommodate large mainline vessels, organize flexible terminal operations, and meet the increasingly stringent operational requirements of international shipping lines.

A Result of Unity and Close Coordination

The August throughput record reflects the solidarity, responsibility, and determination of TCTT’s officers, employees, and workforce, together with proactive operational management and close coordination among departments across the terminal.

This milestone was also made possible by the continued trust and support of shipping lines, customers, and partners throughout TCTT’s development journey. Their confidence forms an important foundation for the terminal to further enhance service quality, optimize operational efficiency, and strengthen its competitiveness in the Cai Mep – Thi Vai region.

The record of 128,073 TEUs is not only a significant milestone in TCTT’s development journey, but also a strong motivation for the entire workforce to uphold solidarity, proactiveness, and innovation; maintain operational momentum; ensure safe terminal operations; and strive to successfully complete the 2026 business plan.

Through this achievement, TCTT continues to make a practical contribution to the business performance of Saigon Newport Corporation, while supporting the enhancement of Vietnam’s port and logistics capabilities and aligning economic development with the effective fulfillment of military and national defense missions in the new context.

The 128,073-TEU milestone once again affirms TCTT’s solid operational foundation and determination to pursue higher growth targets in the time ahead.
