On November 1, 2021, Tan Cang - Hai Phong International Container Terminal (TC-HICT) of Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP) welcomed the maiden call CAP JACKSON belonging to the new maritime service route TPX of Maersk Shipping Line connecting directly Hai Phong with West Coast, USA.

In the context that the Covid-19 epidemic is still troublesome, seriously affecting the economic, political and social situation of many countries in the world, and of Vietnam in particular, TC-HICT still welcomes the added a new service line thanks to the determined efforts of all officers, employees of the terminal and especially the trust and support of shipping lines and customers. Continuing to welcome new service lines of Maersk Shipping Line is an important event for TC-HICT, demonstrating the development potential of the deep-water port in the North of our country.

The CAP JACKSON vessel with a tonnage of 52,160 DWT with a carrying capacity of 4,600 TEUs, with a length of 264 m, operates on the TPX service route with the route Hai Phong - Yantian - Ningbo - Los Angeles - Hai Phong. TPX is a key service line of Maersk Shipping Line in Hai Phong when the volume of import and export goods continues to increase strongly, especially goods exported to the United States. The deployment of a new service route TPX directly to the US greatly shortens the transit time and avoids the risk of container transshipment delays at Chinese transshipment ports due to recent port congestion. This increasingly confirms the role of deep-water ports in the global logistics service chain - an inevitable trend in the process of international economic integration.

Overcoming the impacts of the Covid-19 epidemic, TC-HICT Terminal will continue to make efforts to improve service quality to welcome new sea service routes. It will strive to mark the International Transshipment Port in the North of Vietnam on the map of transshipment ports of the region, and affirms the position of the No. 1 Deepwater Port in the North.
