TCIT reaches 2 million teu milestone in record time since operations
04/11/2026
Since first reaching 2 million TEUs in 2020, followed by the same achievement in 2021 and 2025, each milestone has marked an important step in TCIT's development.
In 2026, the terminal celebrates 15 years of operations with another record, reflecting continued growth in cargo volume, operational capabilities, and position within Vietnam's port industry.

The 2026 achievement is particularly meaningful amid ongoing changes in global shipping and international trade.
Shifting tariff policies, geopolitical tensions, changes in global supply chains, and adjustments to shipping networks and routes have created new challenges for port operations. At the same time, natural disasters and extreme weather have disrupted vessel schedules, placing additional pressure on terminal planning and operations.
Against this backdrop, maintaining growth is not simply about handling more containers. It also requires flexibility, consistent service quality, and the ability to meet rising customer expectations.
At TCIT, every vessel handled safely and every container moved efficiently helps keep cargo flowing, demonstrating the terminal's operational capabilities and ability to adapt to changing market conditions.
A Milestone built on Trust and Partnerships
While 2 million TEU represents an important achievement in throughput, the true value behind this milestone lies in the trust and long-term partnerships built over the years.
It reflects the continued support and strategic guidance of TCIT's shareholders, the confidence of shipping lines that continue to include TCIT in their international service networks, and the strong cooperation of customers and partners throughout the terminal's development.

Equally important is the dedication and hard work of TCIT's employees. Across all departments, teams have worked closely together and adapted to changes in vessel schedules and operating conditions.
Their strong sense of responsibility, teamwork, and determination in daily operations has helped TCIT overcome challenges and achieve new milestones together.
Strengthening TCIT's Position as One of Vietnam's Leading Deep-Water Container Terminals
From welcoming the first vessels in 2011 to serving a network of 12–13 weekly international services today, TCIT has steadily established itself as a key international gateway in Cai Mep – Thi Vai area.
With the capability to accommodate container vessels of up to 173,724 DWT, direct connections to major markets across the Americas, Europe, and Asia, and the largest share of container throughput in the Cai Mep area, TCIT continues to reinforce the position as one of Vietnam's leading deep-water container terminals, playing a vital role in connecting Vietnam's import and export cargo with global markets.

This new record will serve as further motivation for TCIT to enhance operational capabilities, accelerate digital transformation, gradually adopt greener terminal solutions, and strengthen supply chain connectivity. Through these efforts, TCIT remains committed to efficient and sustainable growth while contributing to the continued development of Vietnam's maritime industry.
