TCIT welcomes YM WAYFINDER, advancing the journey toward green shipping
23/10/2026
On October 23, 2026, Tan Cang – Cai Mep International Terminal (TCIT) welcomed the maiden call of YM WAYFINDER, a mainline container vessel operated by Yang Ming. Equipped with liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual-fuel engine technology, YM WAYFINDER represents a new generation of container vessels in Yang Ming’s fleet. The occasion marks another milestone in the longstanding partnership between the two parties, while demonstrating TCIT’s commitment to supporting international shipping lines in the maritime industry's green transition.
Built by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries in South Korea, YM WAYFINDER measures nearly 365 meters in length, with a deadweight tonnage of 159,374 DWT and a container capacity of approximately 15,500 TEU. The vessel operates on the EC2 service within the Premier Alliance network, providing direct connectivity between Vietnam and North American markets along the following rotation: Cai Mep (TCIT) – Yantian – Ningbo – Shanghai – Busan – Manzanillo – Savannah – Charleston – Norfolk – Halifax – Singapore – Cai Mep (TCIT).
YM WAYFINDER is equipped with a high-pressure dual-fuel engine capable of operating on liquefied natural gas (LNG) and low-sulfur fuel oil. Combined with advanced energy monitoring and efficiency systems, this technology enhances operational performance while helping reduce the vessel's environmental impact.
Amid the maritime industry's ongoing green transition, Yang Ming continues to demonstrate its strategic vision and commitment to sustainable development through investment in modern, environmentally friendly container vessels. YM WAYFINDER is one of five LNG dual-fuel container vessels, each with a capacity of approximately 15,500 TEU, that Yang Ming began taking delivery of in 2026. Building on this strategy, the shipping line has placed additional orders for seven container vessels of approximately 16,000 TEU, scheduled for delivery between 2028 and 2029. These newbuildings will feature ammonia-ready designs, enabling potential adoption of ammonia as a marine fuel in the future. These strategic investments underscore Yang Ming's efforts to strengthen its competitiveness, reduce emissions, and advance greener, more sustainable shipping.

Mr. Kevin Wang, Operations and Logistics Director of Yang Ming Vietnam, shared:
“We highly appreciate TCIT's operational capabilities, service quality, and effective coordination in handling modern-generation container vessels. We look forward to further strengthening our partnership, enhancing operational efficiency, and working together toward the shared goal of sustainable maritime transport.”
With the continued support of Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP), TCIT remains at the forefront of the green transition by adopting modern, environmentally friendly terminal operating solutions. These initiatives contribute to the development of green logistics corridors and support the Vietnamese Government's commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
