The 36th conference of ASEAN port association (APA) (16/12/2010)

From the 8th to 11th of December 2010, the Delegation of Vietnam Port Association (VPA) led by the representative of Saigon Newport Corporation, in company with delegates of Saigon Port, Phu My Port, and Hai Phong Port attended the 36th Conference of ASEAN Port Association (APA) held at Siem Reap, Cambodia. This conference was organized after the 31st Meeting of APA Working Committee held in Yangon, Myanmar, from 21st to 23rd of September 2010.
From the 8th to 11th of December 2010, the Delegation of Vietnam Port Association (VPA) led by the representative of Saigon Newport Corporation, in company with delegates of Saigon Port, Phu My Port, and Hai Phong Port attended the 36th Conference of ASEAN Port Association (APA) held at Siem Reap, Cambodia. This conference was organized after the 31st Meeting of APA Working Committee held in Yangon, Myanmar, from 21st to 23rd of September 2010.
At the 36th Conference of APA, the representatives focused on discussing about issues of: the sustainable development of port and ICD systems in ASEAN, the approaches to deal with the climate changes, the development of high quality human resource, electronic data interchange (EDI), and information exchanged between APA members. Moreover, the delegates also discussed about APA website and newsletter as well as solutions to upgrade activities of the Association within the period of five years.
During the conference time, Vietnamese representatives had opportunities to exchange information with nearly 60 delegates from nine ASEAN countries (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippine, Singapore). As the head of Vietnam Port Association (VPA), the representative of Saigon Newport Corporation released a speech on the topic “Development of the deep sea terminal – an experience from Vietnam” . The speech has attracted the attention of APA’s delegates.
After discussing, the delegates decided that the 32nd Meeting of APA Working Committee would be organized in the middle of 2011, in North Sumatra, Indonesia. After that, the 37th Conference of APA would be held in Malaysia. Mr. Capt M Segar –contemporary Chairman of APA also proposed that APA members would take in turns undertaking the position as Chairman of the Working Committee. This suggestion was highly approved by attended representatives. The 36th Conference was held in good mutual friendship, solidarity, and cooperation. The 36th APA conference was successfully ended on December the 11th 2010.
