The ceremony of receiving the first container at Tan Cang - Cao Lanh Terminal

On October 05th, 2013, Tan Cang Waterway Transport JSC, a subsidiary of Saigon Newport Corporation, held the ceremony of receiving the first container at Tan Cang - Cao Lanh Terminal in Dong Thap province.
The ceremony had the presence of Mr Le Minh Hoan –the Dong Thap People’s Committee Chairman, Mr. Doan Quoc Cuong – Deputy Permanent Party Secretary of Dong Thap Province and the attendance of representatives Departments, Bureaus, Branches, local and national media. Moreover, the representatives of the import-export companies in Dong Thap province also participated in this ceremony.
Tan Cang-Cao Lanh terminal is the 2nd terminal in Dong Thap province which is capable of receiving containers after Tan Cang - Sa Dec terminal (also being operated by Tan Cang Waterway transport JSC) which launched in October 2011. The launching of Tan Cang - Cao Lanh terminal has created a container waterway transportation chain connecting the Mekong Delta to the terminals in Ho Chi Minh City and deep-sea terminals in Thi Vai - Cai Mep area. This connection will create favorable conditions for enterprises in Dong Thap province in particular and companies of the Mekong Delta in general in the transporting of imported/exported goods, thus helping to reduce costs and increase competitiveness of the enterprises domestically and globally as emphasized by Deputy General Director of SNP, Mr Tran Khanh Hoang in his speech at the opening ceremony

Opening barging transportation services connecting HCMC-Mekong Delta since 15/1/2010, after 3 years of operation, Tan Cang – Waterway Transport JSC has made up over 60% of the barging market share to the Mekong Delta. The Tan Cang Waterway Transport JSC has been making the best efforts in the applying of modern technology such as GPRS mounted on barges, providing more generators and sockets to increase the transport of reefer containers on barges, improving services quality so as to increase the market share sharply in the time to come and become the number 1 brand in customers’ choice in Mekong Delta.
