On January 7th 2010 in Ho Chi Minh city, Saigon Newport company (SNP) and the subsidiaries of SNP including Tan Cang Logistics and Stevedoring Joint Stock company ( TCL ), Tan Cang Transportation Joint Stock Company No 2 ( TC2 ) has signed the Joint venture contract and charter with Sun Cypress Shipping Company Limited ( Hong Kong) to establish the Saigon Newport -Cypress Joint Stock Company (NPC)

On January 7th 2010 in Ho Chi Minh city, Saigon Newport company (SNP) and the subsidiaries of SNP including Tan Cang Logistics and Stevedoring Joint Stock company ( TCL ), Tan Cang Transportation Joint Stock Company No 2 ( TC2 ) has signed the Joint venture contract and charter with Sun Cypress Shipping Company Limited ( Hong Kong) - a subsidiary of Zim Lines is one of the leading barging operators in Hong kong to establish the Saigon Newport – Cypress Joint Stock Company (NPC)

The business activities of NPC will include : waterway and inland transportation, shipping agency, cargo handling service, logistics services, Customs clearance services, ICD services, CY and warehouse leasing, multi modal international transportation services, sea-port operation. The Vietnamese side contributes 60% to NPC and the foreign one contributes 40%. NPC is expected to start its operation in the early of the second Quarter 2010 after the issuance of the Business Registration Certificate. In the initial period, NPC shall deploy the waterway transportation among Cambodia, Mekong delta area to Cai Mep terminals and the ports in Ho Chi Minh city area. In the next period, NPC shall expand its transportation route from the ports in the North and Middle of Vietnam to Tan Cang- Cai Mep deep- sea port and the ports in the south Focal economic area.

The deployment of the waterway transportation among Cambodia, Mekong delta area to Cat Lai, Cai Mep terminals and the ICD, the ports in Ho Chi Minh city area after the establishment of NPC shall help to cut the transportation cost and facilitate the importers and exporters in the Mekong delta in their cargo receipt, delivery activities.
