At 17:45 on June 12, 2008, M/V UNI PACIFIC - VOYAGE 093 A/E of EMC with LOA of 183m and draft of 8.8m was the first vessel having LOA over 175m leaving the Cat Lai port during the night time. The super class pilot Tran Thanh Son and Mr. Hung- vice director of Pilot Company- zone 1 led the vessel

Before June 1, 2008, only vessels having LOA up to 175m were permitted to navigate along Long Tau channel during the night time. Upon receiving the official document No 4397/BGTVT-KHDT dated June 9, 2008 on the permission to pilot navigation of vessels having LOA up to 205 m to and from Cat Lai port during the night time, Saigon Newport has been collaborating with the Saigon Harbour Authority (SHA), Pilot Company- zone 1 for the deployment of safe navigation. At 17:45 on June 12, 2008, M/V UNI PACIFIC - VOYAGE 093 A/E of EMC with LOA of 183m and draft of 8.8m was the first vessel having LOA over 175m leaving the Cat Lai port during the night time. The super class pilot Tran Thanh Son and Mr. Hung- vice director of Pilot Company- zone 1 led the vessel. Mr. Hung- vice director of SHA and Mr. Sang- general manager of the Legal Dept, SHA were also present on board M/V Uni Pacific on the way from Cat Lai to the Vung Tau pilot station.
To give assistance to the vessel during its unberthing, SNP has allocated two tugboats having the power of 2,400; 1,4000 Hps. On the distance of 26 N.M from Cat Lai, SNP used 02 speed boats, Tan Cang 12 & 08 to lead the channel for M/V Uni Pacific. The navigation was successful and M/V UNI PACIFIC had reached the Vung Tau Pilot station at 21:15 the same day.
