Agro-forestry, fishery exports top $26.4 billion in 10 months

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said the export value of agricultural, forest and aquatic products was estimated at US$2.75 billion in October, totaling US$26.4 billion in the first 10 months of 2016, up 6.3 per cent year on year.

In particular, major agricultural commodities brought home US$12.5 billion in the 10-month period, up 7.8 per cent year on year. Seafood exports valued US$5.7 billion, up 5.9 per cent. The export value of forestry products grossed US$5.8 billion, marginally 0.1 per cent higher than that of the corresponding period of 2015.
 

Among agricultural products exported, coffee was the biggest advancer. Vietnam shipped 121,000 tonnes of coffee valued US$246 million in October, totalling 1.5 million tonnes worth US$2.76 billion in the first 10 months, up 40.2 per cent in volume and 25.4 per cent in value over the same period of 2015. Other gainers included rubber, tea and cashew nut.
 
However, some export commodities dropped sharply, particularly rice and cassava.
