Recently in Ho Chi Minh City, a delegation of enterprises from the Netherlands attended the seminar "Sustainable development of seaports and airports" to exchange views on trends in building green ports, smart airports and modern logistics systems. Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP) joined the program as a key partner, providing information to help businesses from the Netherlands gain an overall, comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the status of Vietnam’s seaport infrastructure.

In the context of expanded administrative boundaries, the Ho Chi Minh City area is entering a new phase of large-scale seaport and aviation infrastructure development. After its planned merger with Binh Duong Province and Ba Ria–Vung Tau Province, the regional system of 98 terminals is expected to achieve a total throughput of more than 330 million tons of cargo per year, in which the Cai Mep – Thi Vai port complex has been continuously ranked by the World Bank and S&P Global among the world’s Top 10 most efficient container ports.

Recognizing the strong growth potential of the seaport and aviation sector, the business community from the Netherlands organized the seminar with the participation of Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City; Ms. Aukje de Vries, Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation of the Netherlands; Mr. Kees Van Baar, Ambassador of the Netherlands to Vietnam; and Ms. Raissa Marteaux, Consul General of the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh City.

At the event, businesses from the two countries discussed development policies, models for green infrastructure investment and solutions to enhance sustainable maritime capacity. Many international experts assessed that Vietnam needs to focus green resources, strengthen maritime access channels and invest synchronously to drive strong growth of the national seaport system in the coming period.

To provide enterprises from the Netherlands with a clear and comprehensive view of Vietnam’s logistics and seaport infastructure, Mr. Dang Thanh Son, Deputy Director of Marketing of SNP, and Ms. Truong Thi My Le, Deputy Director of Marketing of SNP, directly accompanied the delegation on a river cruise along the Saigon River to Tan Cang – Cat Lai Terminal. During the visit, SNP’s representatives shared information on ongoing projects, infrastructure development orientations and upcoming cooperation plans of the Corporation and its member units.
