Saigon Newport Corporation received the investment registration certificate for the construction project of berths 7, 8 Lach Huyen berth area of Hai Phong seaport

On the afternoon of May 9, in Hai Phong City, the Management Board of Hai Phong City Economic Zone held a conference to award the Investment Registration Certificate for the construction investment project of Berth No.7, No.8 of Lach Huyen Berth area which belongs to Hai Phong seaport for Saigon Newport Corporation. Mr. Le Trung Kien, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Head of the Management Board of Hai Phong Economic Zone, chaired the event. Attending were leaders of departments and agencies of Hai Phong City; Colonel Nguyen Nang Toan, Chairman of Saigon Newport Corporation who represented the Corporation's leaders to receive the Project Investment Registration Certificate.
After being assigned by the Government to implement the Port Project No. 1 and No. 2 at Lach Huyen deep-water port, Saigon Newport Corporation has effectively operated and proved the correctness in the decision to build and develop Deep-water port development in Hai Phong. In particular, it greatly contributes to reducing shipping costs and logistics costs through direct routes and services operated by ships with a capacity of 140,000 DWT with more competitive costs to markets like the United States, Europe, Australia as well as intra-Asia routes. Cargo throughput by two launch Berth No. 1 and 2 Lach Huyen berth area grows strongly every year. Up to now, the volume of goods through the two launch Berth No. 1 and 2 has nearly reached the designed capacity (in 2022, the output will reach over 1.1 million Teu).

After the success of the project kicked off at Lach Huyen Beth - Tan Cang Hai Phong International Container Terminal (TC-HICT), Saigon Newport Corporation continued to be trusted by the Prime Minister to hand over the project investment in the construction of Berth No.7, No.8 in order to meet the objectives in the development strategy of Vietnam's seaports.

The scale of the project includes: Investing in the construction of 2 berths with a length of 900m (each berth is 450m long), receiving container ships of up to 12,000 Teus or up to 18,000 Teus in accordance with the receiving conditions of the relevant infrastructure which meet safety requirements; 1 barge berth 200m long, receiving barges with a capacity of 160 Teus; system of equipment for exploitation and loading and unloading of cargoes, warehouse system, port service infrastructure, anchor buoy area and water area connected to Lach Huyen public navigation channel; the scale of land and water use is about 79.86 ha (including the docking area and the water area connected to the navigation channel about 22,332 ha).
The total investment capital of the project is about 12,792,637 billion VND, of which the contributed capital of the investor (Saigon Newport Corporation) is about 1,918.896 billion VND; mobilized capital is about 10,873,741 billion VND. The project's operational term is 70 years; The project implementation schedule is 5 years (2023 - 2027).

With the rapid development of the Northern region, container throughput through ports in Hai Phong increases by an average of 15% per year. Being trusted by the Government, Saigon Newport Corporation, a defense and security enterprise, a port operator, and a leading logistics service provider in Vietnam, ranked 17th in the container port cluster with the largest volume in the world, ranked 5th prestigious enterprises in Vietnam's Logistics industry; is one of seven state-owned enterprises proposed by the Ministry of Planning and Investment for pilot study in the project on developing large-scale state-owned enterprises, promoting its leading role, paving the way for the market, becoming "The leading bird" of the economy, to invest in the construction of Berth No.7, No.8 in Lach Huyen Berth area, will well meet the expectations of the Government assigned and built the target in Vietnam's maritime strategy, ensuring national sovereignty over seas and islands; at the same time to meet the demand for import and export of goods in the Northern region; making an important contribution to the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country and promoting socio-economic development of Hai Phong city in particular and the northern region in general.
