The first barge called at Tan Cang Que Vo ICD

Located at Highway 18 (Hanoi – Bac Ninh), close to industrial parks in Que Vo, Gia Binh, Yen Binh… (Bac Ninh province) and Quang Chau, Van Trung, Song Khe, Dinh Tram (Bac Giang province), with the ability to combine waterway and land transport, Tan Cang Que Vo ICD is expected to be the star destination for customers from industrial parks in Bac Ninh and Bac Giang province.

Tan Cang Que Vo ICD is one of 3 ICDs in Bac Ninh province under Decision No.1201/QĐ-BGTVT dated June 11th, 2018 by the Ministry of Transport (the other 2 ICDs are Tien Son ICD of Bac Ky Investment JSC and Yen Phong ICD). The ICD project has a scale of 30 hectares, with 1-km long berth which consists of 6 barge berths for 400-600 ton barges, in which there are 3 general cargo berths with 150-m long berth and 3 bulk cargo berths with 30-m long berth each. The project has finished 300-m berth and 5 hectares CY with gantry cranes and reaches stackers. Berth draft after completion is -5m, able to receive 120-teus barge. The ICD is planned with a system of bonded warehouses, CFS warehouses, domestic warehouses inside the area. By using a barge berth, Tan Cang Que Vo ICD can provide a combined water-land solution to customers, following the green logistics trend that is encouraged by foreign companies such as Samsung, Canon, Vinasolar, Foxconn, Diana… Therefore, shipping lines, import-export companies, logistics companies pay lots of attention to this project. Leaders of Saigon Newport Corporation always direct to speed up the process of infrastructure construction and the license of Tan Cang Que Vo ICD. Tan Cang Waterway JSC, the leading subsidiary in barging of SNP with a high market share in Southern Vietnam, has presented in the Northern area since the end of 2019. Tan Cang Waterway Trasport is operating 4 barges in the Northern area and will add more when volume rises.

In the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, travel of foreign investors, as well as new investment decisions and project expansion, are affected, but with an attractive investment environment and technical infrastructure, the industrial parks of Bac Ninh and Bac Giang province still retain their position of attracting foreign capital. According to Bac Ninh Statistical Office, in the first 8 months of 2020, Bac Ninh Province has attracted 119 FDI projects, with a total registered investment capital of 334.8 million USD. After 22 years of establishment, Bac Ninh Industrial Parks has granted investment registration for 1,599 projects (1,074 FDI projects and 485 domestic projects), the total registered investment capital after adjustment reaches 20.08 billion USD. In Bac Giang province, according to data from the website of the province, the first 7 months of 2020 have attracted 896 million USD, increase 36.1% year-on-year.

The first barge at Tan Cang Que Vo ICD, even if it is only a domestic barge, is good news not only for Saigon Newport Corporation but also a sign of the booming market in the Northern area.
