10 business highlights of Saigon Newport Corporation in 2013

We always keep in mind that the great progress SNP has made in the past few years as well as in 2013 cannot be attained without the support and invaluable help from customers, shipping companies and partners. We value each and every precious container handled at our terminals.
1. Tan Cang – Cat Lai Terminal reached 3.2 million TEU milestone
In 2013, Saigon Newport Corporation added 224-meter berth and 15-hectare container yard, bringing the total area of Tan Cang – Cat Lai Terminal up to 130 hectares and total berth length to nearly 1.5-kilometer, being able to receive up-to-40,000 DWT vessels. With modern equipment including 20 gantry cranes, 54 RTGs and recently newly launched 4 azimuth-stern-drive tug boats, the terminal capacity was increased from 3.5 million TEU to 4.8 million TEU, an equivalence to an increase of 37%. For the first time ever, Tan Cang – Cat Lai Terminal handled 3.2 million TEU, being the largest, busiest and most modern container terminal in Vietnam and one of the top 40 worldwide.
2. Tan Cang – Cai Mep International Terminal (TCIT) handled 645,000 TEU
Being the largest deep-sea terminal in Vietnam, Tan Cang – Cai Mep International Terminal (TCIT) came second in throughput volume after Tan Cang – Cat Lai Terminal. In 2013, TCIT received 2 more services, mounting to the currently 09 weekly calls, handling 645,000 TEU and accounting for 82% of market share in Cai Mep area.
3. Launching Tan Cang – Cao Lanh Terminal (Dong Thap province), Tan Cang – Tra Noc Terminal (Can Tho province) and Tan Cang – My Tho Terminal (Tien Giang province); setting up representative office in Cambodia
In 2013, Saigon Newport Corporation added more terminals to connect its waterway transport network, including: Tan Cang – Tra Noc Terminal (Can Tho province), Tan Cang – My Tho Terminal (Tien Giang province) and set up a representative office in Phnompenh – Cambodia. Together with existing terminals such as My Thoi Terminal (An Giang province), Tan Cang – Sa Dec Terminal, Tan Cang – Cao Lanh Terminal (Dong Thap province), and developing terminals expected to be operational in 2014 such as Giao Long Terminal (Ben Tre province), Vinh Thai Terminal (Vinh Long province), Cai Cui Terminal (Can Tho province), we aim at creating a terminal network and integrated logistics chain along Tien River and Hau River, connecting Cambodia to best support investors, importers and exporters in the Mekong Delta.
4. Developing ports in Hai Phong
On 10th December 2013, at Tan Cang – Cat Lai Terminal, Saigon Newport Corporation held a signing ceremony with Molnykit – Japan for implementation of Component B, Hai Phong International Container Terminal (HICT) in Hai Phong. With total investment capital of USD 321 million, the terminal has a total area of 56.99 hectares, 750-meter berth length, being capable of receiving vessels of up to 10,000 DWTs, and expected to be operational in mid-2017. This is the first deep-sea port in the north of Vietnam, significantly contributing to promoting investment and increasing import-export activities in Northern Focal Economic Area.
In 2013, Saigon Newport Corporation also completed construction and put into operation Tan Cang – 128 Terminal with 225-meter berth with more than 10-hectare yard. The terminal can receive vessels of up to 15,000 DWTs. Together with Tan Cang – 189 Terminal, Tan Cang – 128 Terminal creates a port complex in Northern market, a solid premise for Saigon Newport deep-sea port development in Lach Huyen, which affirms Saigon Newport position in the north of Vietnam.
5. Successfully implementing the second core business – logistics services
With a terminal network throughout Vietnam, modern warehousing systems, overland transportation team of over 300 tractors, a waterway transportation fleet of 50 barges, piloting service, custom broker service, professional forwarding services, the launching of Saigon Newport Logistics (SNPL) united the supply chain, to maximize potentials of subsidiaries, to connect transportation services from the North to the South, extending to Laos and Cambodia, to perform international delivery services, to bring extra value to customers by effective professional logistics solutions and best quality services.
6. Implementing domestic shipping service
Tan Cang Waterway Transport JSC (a subsidiary of Saigon Newport Corporation) is the biggest waterway transportation company in the South of Vietnam, with 65% market share of waterway transport market in the South, and 45% Vietnam-Cambodia market. The launching of domestic shipping service (Tan Cang Shipping JSC) in 2013 will meet customers‘ expectations for domestic transportation (North – Central – South).
7. Receiving and operating Tan Cang – Cai Mep ODA Terminal (TCOT)
Tan Cang – Cai Mep ODA Terminal (TCOT) has 600-meter berth length, 39.6-hectare container yard, 2 berths, and can receive up-to-110,000 DWT vessels, with capacity of 600,000 TEU/year; the bidding package is valid for 30 years. The operation of TCOT, together with Tan Cang – Cai Mep Container Terminal (TCCT) and Tan Cang – Cai Mep International Terminal (TCIT), will crucially form the biggest deep-sea port complex in Vietnam.
8. Starting construction of Tan Cang – Hiep Phuoc
In 2013, Saigon Newport Corporation started construction for Tan Cang – Hiep Phuoc Terminal Project, with an area of 16,8 hectares, 420-meter berth on the bank of Soai Rap River, being able to receive over-40,000-ton vessels, 4 transit berths of 275 meters on the bank of Dong Dien River for receiving 2000-ton barges. The first phase of Tan Cang – Hiep Phuoc Terminal will operate in late-2014, and will effectively support cargo flow in Southern Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta. Tan Cang – Cat Lai Terminal, Tan Cang – Hiep Phuoc Terminal and Tan Cang – ITC will create the biggest container terminal complex in Ho Chi Minh City.
9. Enhancing service quality, optimizing operations and transaction for customers’ convenience
In 2013, Saigon Newport planned and implemented 423 works, 62 breakthroughs, and 50 process optimizing solutions in an attempt to enhance service quality. Especially, the close cooperation with Military Bank (MB) in implementing online transaction services (E-banking), such as Token and Mobivi, and other services have brought customers with convenience and satisfaction.
10. Brilliantly fulfilling business tasks
With right guidelines and effective solutions, it is the second year in a row that Saigon Newport Corporation completes its business tasks brilliantly 20 days before the deadline, with an increase of 11.02% compared to 2012, 3.9 million TEU throughput capacity, continuing to be the number 1 terminal operator in Vietnam. Saigon Newport Corporation was honored in Vietnam Glory Program. Rear Admiral Nguyen Dang Nghiem was honored Labor Hero by the Government.
