On January 29, 2021, TAN CANG HIEP PHUOC PORT (TCHP) - a member of Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP), held the ceremony to welcome the first container ship of Ningbo Ocean Shipping (NBOS) to Vietnam, operated by Ben Line as an agent of the shipping company.

The Xin Ming Zhou 18 vessel of NBOS's CV1 with route: CNZPU (ZHAPU) - CNNGB (NINGBO) - VNSGN (TCHP) - CNZPU (ZHAPU) - CNNGB (NINGBO) is the first ship of the shipping line to Vietnam to call at TCHP port. The service route carries the expectation of connecting the growing volume of imports and exports between Vietnam and China.

The ceremony was held solemnly with the presence of Senior Lieutenant Colonel Pham Thi Thuy Van - Vice President of Marketing Department (SNP); Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Nhan - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tan Cang Hiep Phuoc JSC; Mr. Phillip Denham - Chief Representative of Ben Line Agent Vietnam, together with officers, employees, workers in the production and operation line at TCHP. This event marked a prosperous beginning of 2021 for TCHP, before the volatile situation when the country's economy in general and the domestic maritime industry, in particular, still meet more or less difficulties due to the influence of COVID-19.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Lieutenant Colonel Bui Van Bang - Vice President of TCHP said: This event marks an important milestone - realizing the cooperation and developing a good relationship between Ben Line Agent Vietnam and NBOS Shipping Lines with SNP and TCHP. Ben Line agency has been cooperating with TCHP for many years, currently maintaining the TVT1 service of TAICANG shipping line. More specifically, NBOS's CV1 service is the new and first route to call at TCHP Port in 2021 - right after the Soai Rap channel has been dredged to (-9m); The water area in front of TCHP port has just completed dredging, reaching (-11.3m). Thus, TCHP port in the near future can guarantee to welcome ships up to 50,000 DWT.

Mr. Phillip Denham - Representative of Ben Line Agent Vietnam, on behalf of NBOS Shipping line sent his sincere thanks to SNP and TCHP for organizing a thoughtful and respectful welcome ceremony. He also expressed his delight at finally reaching an agreement in cooperation with TCHP, in which he believed the new service route into TCHP will meet the increasing volume of import-export goods of the market and ensure the service quality expected by NBOS.

The first NBOS container was shipped on board through TCHP Port

Located on the border between the Southern key economic region and the Mekong Delta, connecting the ring roads and industrial zones, TCHP has long been identified to perform "as arm-length” of Tan Cang Cat Lai and the backend for the Cai Mep port cluster of SNP. Together with the event of welcoming the first NOBS train to the TCHP port right after the dredging of water in front of the wharf is completed, it creates a foundation for TCSG in general and TCHP port in particular, to continue to expand the attracting service routes in the coming time. This event demonstrates the trust of customers/shipping lines as well as the growing attraction and importance of TCHP on the strategic economic map in the key southern region.
