Maersk Line plans to launch a container service, called the ME4, linking India, the Middle East and the Mediterranean, effective in November.
The Danish carrier said the new service will deploy vessels with a carrying capacity of 4,500 20-foot equivalent units and connect at Port Tangiers with its Rumba Service, which is being merged into Mediterranean Shipping Company’s "Spain Loop 2 Service" starting in November.
The merged Rumba Service, deploying six 6,000-TEU vessels, will call Gioia Tauro, Valencia, Algeciras, Pecem, Salvador, Paranagua, Itapoa, Imbituba, Santos, Las Palmas, Tangier, Algeciras and Gioia Tauro.
“The new service allows for a more cost beneficial operation in the current trading environment and reflects the current market demand in this trade,” Maersk said.
