From 28/6 to 30/06, Vietnam Fisheries International Exhibition 2011 (Vietfish 2011) was held at Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre (SECC) with the participation of more than 130 international and local enterprises displaying their latest products at 300 booths during the 03-day exhibition. In addition to exhibition activities, SNP was organizing a seminar on “Transportation solutions for reefer containers from the Mekong Delta to ports of Ho Chi Minh City and Cai Mep”.
From 28/6 to 30/06, Vietnam Fisheries International Exhibition 2011 (Vietfish 2011) was held at Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre (SECC) with the participation of more than 130 international and local enterprises displaying their latest products at 300 booths during the 03-day exhibition. Attending the opening ceremony on 28/06/2011 were Mr. Luong Le Phuong – Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ms Nguyen Thi Hong Minh – former Deputy Minister of Fisheries, Chairman of Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Produces (VASEP), Mr. Jos Schellaars – Consul General of the Netherlands, Mr. Abhay Thaku – Consul General of India, Mr. Kiell Arme Nielas – Commercial Counselor of Norway and representatives of Consulate General of Japan, U.S.A, France, the Philippines, Italy and all exhibitors.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Mr. Luong Le Phuong stressed the role of Vietnam’s fishery export industry in national economic development. In 2010, Vietnam’s fishery export turnover was 11.2 million tons (valued approximately USD 5 billion) and Vietnam is currently in the world top 3 of fishery exporters. The exhibition was a good opportunity for businesses to meet their customers and to seek potential partners. At the ceremony, 49 fishery enterprises were awarded ‘Certificate for Sustainable Development and Prestige’ by Ministry of Industry and Trade. Besides, 25 individuals and businesses donated VND 2,4 billion to support fishermen in Parcel Islands and Spratly Islands.

Attending the event, Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP) was prominent as a leading provider of container terminal and logistics services. In addition to exhibition activities, SNP was organizing a seminar on “Solutions for transportation of reefer containers from the Mekong Delta to ports of Ho Chi Minh City and Cai Mep” to provide attendants with updated information on barging transportation and other solutions for related logistic services to help customers save time and cost. The seminar attracted approximately 100 representatives from fishery companies, shipping lines and forwarders. At the seminar, SNP representatives directly answered questions about barging for the Mekong Delta - Cat Lai - Cai Mep services and pinpointed responsibilities of all related parties as well as proposed alternative solutions to assist importers/exporters of reefer products. By attending the event, SNP was showing continuous efforts in improving whole package supply chain solutions to affirm its leading position in seaport operations in Vietnam as well as achieve ‘Customers’ Year 2011’ targets.
