Seminar on “Digital Transformation in Logistics” discusses innovative solutions to enhance competitiveness
28/11/2025
The seminar attracted a large number of logistics enterprises, transport operators, import–export companies, technology experts and representatives of industry associations.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Nguyen Truong Thi, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, emphasized that the merger of Binh Duong and Ba Ria – Vung Tau provinces into Ho Chi Minh City has opened up a vast development space, bringing the economic scale to around USD 120 billion, accounting for 23.5% of the national GDP. On that basis, Ho Chi Minh City is expected to become a “global mega-city”, acting as a hub for manufacturing, logistics, finance and high technology, and connecting global supply chains through its seaport system, international airports and inter-regional transport network.

According to the Resolution of the 1st Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee for the 2025–2030 tenure, logistics has been identified as one of the city’s ten priority sectors and a spearhead service industry that plays an important role in promoting the city’s socio-economic development. The target is that by 2030, Ho Chi Minh City will become a logistics service hub of regional scale in Southeast Asia; and by 2045, it will rise to the position of a logistics centre of Asia and the world.
To realize this vision, in addition to stepping up investment in inter-regional connectivity infrastructure, Ho Chi Minh City needs to focus on breakthrough solutions, in which the “dual transformation” – digital transformation and green transition in the logistics sector – is considered a key driver. Accordingly, the application of digital technologies, big data, automation and green transport solutions will help form an intelligent logistics system, improve operational efficiency, shorten lead times, reduce costs and optimize value added for cargo, especially export cargo.

Ms. Huynh Dinh Thai Linh, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Logistics and Port Association and Director of WTC Binh Duong One Member Co., Ltd., presented a paper titled “Sustainable business models and human resource development to meet the requirements of dual transformation” at the seminar. In particular, the Q&A panel with experts at the seminar provided in-depth perspectives on the application of technology to address challenges arising during the transformation process. The experts stressed that, in order to move towards green logistics and sustainable development, enterprises need to proactively invest in digital infrastructure, standardize processes, strengthen supply chain linkages and apply modern management standards. This will form a solid foundation for enterprises to enhance their competitiveness and capture opportunities amid the profound transformation of the global logistics industry.
