Top 10 Events of Vietnam’s Logistics Sector in 2025

2025 marked a pivotal and dynamic year for Vietnam’s logistics service sector, signifying a strong transformation from traditional models toward green, smart logistics and deeper integration into the global supply chain.


1. Approval of the Strategy for the Development of Vietnam’s Logistics services in the period of 2025–2035 


On 9 October 2025, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 2229/QD-TTg approving the Strategy for the Development of Vietnam’s Logistics Services in the period of 2025–2035, with a vision to 2050.

This is the first-ever national strategy for the logistics service sector, recognizing logistics as an essential infrastructure service industry and setting the objective of positioning Vietnam as a leading logistics hub in the ASEAN region and globally.

2. Successful Hosting of the FIATA World Congress 2025



For the first time, Vietnam hosted the FIATA World Congress of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations from 6–10 October 2025 in Hanoi, attracting over 1,000 delegates from more than 80 countries, under the theme “Green & Resilient Logistics.”

The event reaffirmed Vietnam’s position on the global logistics map and promoted deeper integration of Vietnamese logistics enterprises into international markets.

3. Vietnam Logistics Forum 2025 (VLF 2025)

With the theme “Vietnam Logistics – Rising and Advancing into a New Era,” the Vietnam Logistics Forum 2025 was held on 28–29 November 2025 in Da Nang, with the participation and chairmanship of the Prime Minister.

The forum gathered hundreds of experts and enterprises to discuss the reactivation of the East–West Economic Corridor, the utilization of Da Nang Free Trade Zone advantages, and the improvement of infrastructure connectivity in the Central Region.

4. Vietnam International Logistics Exhibition 2025

Held from 31 July to 2 August 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnam International Logistics Exhibition 2025 reached a record scale with nearly 480 booths from more than 20 countries.

The exhibition showcased smart logistics solutions, automated warehouse robotics, and advanced cold-chain supply technologies. Trade promotion activities and thematic seminars enabled Vietnamese enterprises to gain greater exposure to industry practices and global trends.

5. Basic Completion of North–South Expressway Sections
In 2025, 1,491 km of expressways were completed, increasing the total national expressway length to 3,345 km, basically opening the entire North–South expressway corridor from Cao Bang to Ca Mau.

In addition, the total length of coastal roads reached 1,701 km, while several east–west expressway projects and other strategic transport routes continued to be implemented.

6. Completion and Operation of Berths 3+4 and 5+6 of Lach Huyen Port Complex

Investment in and commissioning of Berths 3+4 and 5+6 of the Lach Huyen Port Complex were completed, raising the total national seaport handling capacity to approximately 900 million tons per year.

Meanwhile, several other seaports continued to be initiated, upgraded, or prepared for investment, including My Thuy, Chan May, Lien Chieu, Can Gio, and Hon Khoai.

7. Inauguration and Operation of Phase 1 of Long Thanh International Airport

Phase 1 of Long Thanh International Airport was inaugurated, with a designed capacity of 25 million passengers per year and 1.2 million tons of cargo per year, significantly enhancing air logistics capacity and supporting Vietnam’s goal of becoming an air cargo transshipment hub.

In addition, the Gia Binh International Airport project was approved by the National Assembly, while Tan Son Nhat Terminal T3 was completed and Noi Bai Terminal T2 was expanded.

8. Commencement of Construction of the Lao Cai – Hanoi – Hai Phong Railway

The Lao Cai – Hanoi – Hai Phong railway

The Lao Cai – Hanoi – Hai Phong railway has a main route length of approximately 390.9 km, branch lines of 27.9 km, single-track standard gauge (1,435 mm), and a design speed of 160 km/h, serving both passenger and freight transport.

The commencement of construction, beginning with five railway stations, marked the initial step toward developing a modern and synchronized railway line along the East–West corridor, enhancing international connectivity, reducing logistics costs, and promoting green logistics development.

9. Establishment of the First Free Trade Zones

The Da Nang Free Trade Zone was established under Decision No. 1142/QD-TTg dated 13 June 2025, covering approximately 1,881 ha, comprising non-contiguous functional zones such as production, logistics, trade–services, and digital technology/innovation zones.

The Hai Phong Free Trade Zone was established under Decision No. 4068/QD-UBND dated 13 October 2025, with a scale of approximately 6,292 ha, closely linked to the marine economy, heavy industry, and international logistics.

10. Establishment of Local Logistics Associations

The Dong Nai Logistics Association was established on 1 December 2025, and the Hue City Logistics Association on 19 December 2025. Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City Logistics and Seaport Association was established through the merger of relevant associations from Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong Province, and Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province.

Accordingly, in addition to the Vietnam Logistics Business Association (VLA) and the Vietnam Logistics Human Resource Development Association (VALOMA), Vietnam currently has local logistics associations in Hanoi, Hai Phong, Hue, Dong Nai, and Ho Chi Minh City.
