On 9th November at Hai Phong City, Tan Cang Hai Phong International Container Terminal (TC-HICT), a subsidiary of Saigon Newport Corporation, held a ceremony to welcome the 1 millionth Teu in 2022 carried by Maersk Copenhagen m/v on the Trans-Pacific service TPX of Maersk shipping line. This marks a historic milestone, affirming the sustainable development of port operations in the region.
In 2022, although the global and regional political and economic situation has many fluctuations greatly affecting economic development activities in Vietnam, TC-HICT has timely implemented solutions to improve service quality, taken the lead in digital transformation, successfully deployed Eport and EDO systems, always with customer-oriented vision. The terminal has steadily overcome difficult times, has a high growth rate every month, continues to receive many new services, vessel handling productivity reaches more than 100 containers/hour. With quality service and flexible policies, TC-HICT is recognized by customers as a trusted place for cargo handling activities.
Speaking at the ceremony, Commander Doan Hai Tuan emphasized: The event of welcoming 1 million Teu throughout affirms the attraction of import and export activities in Northern Vietnam as well as deep-water seaports for foreign investors when placing factories in Hai Phong and provinces in key economic zones, in which logistics costs are reduced, goods/cargoes are directly connected to the US and European markets, major export markets with no transshipment through foreign ports. The event also contributed to the bright spots of Northern Vietnam’s economy this year.
At the ceremony, delegates pressed the button to welcome the 1 millionth Teu throughput. This is a historic event after nearly 5 years of operation, affirming the sustainable development of port operation in the domestic and international areas. On this occasion, TC-HICT donated 200 million VND to the Fund for the Poor in Cat Hai district.
