On the evening of January 29 (i.e. the 8th of the Lunar New Year), Mr. Pham Minh Chinh, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and the Government delegation attended the ceremony to deliver the first handling orders to start the spring of the Lunar New Year 2023 at Tan Cang Cat Lai Terminal of Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP), Navy. This is an event associated with the annual tradition of Saigon Newport Corporation.

In 2022, despite the impact of the world economy, Saigon Newport Corporation successfully completed its operation plan, with a total volume of containers through ports in the SNP system reached more than 9.27 million Teu (equivalent to 130 million tons of goods), an increase of 6.6% compared to 2021. SNP is currently undertaking port services for over 55% of the market share of import and export container volume exports through seaports across the country. In particular, Tan Cang - Cat Lai Terminal continued to grow with a throughput of more than 5.5 million Teu containers (equivalent to 78.5 million tons of goods); Ho Chi Minh City Customs gathered import and export taxes through the port of more than 143 trillion VND, representing 30.3% of Ho Chi Minh City's total budget revenue.

Having obtained the above results, SNP has first of all united and successfully transformed the business management model; speed up the application of information technology and digital transformation in both internal operations and transactions, as well as in providing services to customers. Multi-channel customer care is promoted on social networking platforms to proactively capture customer issues and promptly solve and respond to requests. The prestige and brand name of SNP continues to be maintained and promoted for the seventh time in a period of national brand; for the fourth time the title "Standard Enterprise for Employees"; the Party Committee of the Saigon Military Port was awarded the Certificate of Merit by the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Navy; the Ministry of Defense presents the Emulation Flag.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated and praised the achievements of leaders and officers of Saigon Newport Corporation for their active contribution to socio-economic development and the effect of national development and defense. "Saigon Newport Corporation is both a defense unit, an enterprise unit, a labor and operation unit," the Prime Minister emphasized.

The Prime Minister expressed his excitement to be present at one of the most important ports of Saigon Newport Corporation - Tan Cang Cat Lai terminal - the largest seaport in Vietnam, the largest gateway for import and export trade in the whole country - one of the "keys" contributing about 18% of the Ho Chi Minh city's total budget revenue - the "economic locomotive" of the country. According to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, in 2023, the situation in the world and in the country still has many complicated and unpredictable developments; in which more difficult, more challenging. However, people believe Vietnam will successfully complete the socio-economic development goals in 2023: maintain macroeconomic stability, control inflation, promote growth and ensure major balances of the economy.
 
The Prime Minister emphasized that to fulfill the above task, ensuring the circulation of import and export goods is one of the important conditions. The Government and the Prime Minister continued to communicate and listen; urgently perfect mechanisms and policies, speed up administrative procedures, improve the business investment environment, and have timely support solutions to remove difficulties and create favorable conditions for enterprises to develop. The head of the Government also suggested that enterprises operating in transport and logistics join hands, synergize to build and develop a modern, efficient, and effective transport and logistics industry in Vietnam regional and world advanced level. Both meet the import and export needs of enterprises, while minimizing service costs, contributing to improving the competitiveness of Vietnamese goods.

With Saigon Newport Corporation, the Prime Minister wished and asked comrades to continue to unite, maintain and promote the tradition of Labor Heroes in the renovation period, the fine tradition of 34 years of construction and development, organizing operation and business effectively and safely; focus on performing the key role in investment and operation of deep-water ports at strategic geo-political, geo-economic and geo-military locations, with development orientation and competition on par with major seaports in the region and global; always attach the interests of enterprises to the nation; deserves to be a pioneer in implementing the Strategy for Sustainable Development of Vietnam's marine economy to 2030, with a vision to 2045 especially in the Mekong River Delta and the South, thereby contributing to the development of the river economy in this region", the Prime Minister suggested.



The Prime Minister affirmed that the Government, ministries, central branches and localities will always accompany, support and promote the sustainable development of SNP in particular and the Vietnamese Enterprise community in general. He believes 2023 will continue to be a successful year for Saigon Newport Corporation, with many outstanding achievements, many new growth milestones, towards becoming a "leading economic - defense corporation" of Vietnam in the field of marine economy and logistics services; reputable brand, global quality”; successfully completed the mission of connecting goods flow, developing the marine economy, raising the national level; contribute to the construction and defense of the Fatherland, worthy of the trust and love of the Party, State, Government and people.

At the ceremony, the Prime Minister and delegates performed the ceremony of issuing the first handling order for the spring 2023 of Tan Cang - Cat Lai Terminal, Saigon Newport Corporation, bringing with them expectations and beliefs about active and successful import and export activities with strong turnover.



To perform operation activities during the Lunar New Year 2023, at Tan Cang - Cat Lai terminal, each operation shift has more than 1,100 employees directly managing, operating and serving. In the first week of the Lunar New Year, the terminal welcomed 70 cargo ships, throughput 107 thousand Teu, equivalent to more than 1.54 million tons of goods (up 2.5% over the same period in 2022). Particularly on the night of delivering cargo handling orders, the Port received 9 container ships to handle cargo; the shipment was loaded on the Khuna Bhum of RCL shipping line, with a tonnage of 19,981 tons and a carrying capacity of nearly 1,700 teu on the Cat Lai (Vietnam) - Laemchabang (ThaiLand) - Hongkong - Shanghai and Ningbo (China) shipment. Electronic products - a key item last year contributed to the export turnover of Ho Chi Minh City to more than 47 billion USD. The total volume of loading and unloading on the night of delivering orders for first-spring handling at Tan Cang - Cat Lai terminal is about 15,424 Teus (equivalent to 220 thousand tons of goods), showing the prosperity of Vietnam's economy in 2023.
 

At the ceremony to deliver the first handling order in the spring of the Lunar New Year, Saigon Newport Corporation donated the fund to the poor of Ho Chi Minh City and the city's localities with a value of 2.7 billion VND.
