Tan Cang Hiep Phuoc Completes Dredging, Enhancing Service Capacity

On July 20th 2024, in Ho Chi Minh City, Tan Cang Hiep Phuoc (TCHP) – Terminal D Cat Lai successfully completed dredging operations in front of its berth, meeting the increasing transportation needs of HCMC, the Mekong Delta, and the southern provinces.

Terminal D Cat Lai has undertaken dredging maintenance in the waters in front of its berth to ensure safe operations under fluctuating hydrological conditions since June. Upon completion, the berth will achieve a depth of -11.3m (excluding tidal effects) and will be capable of accommodating vessels up to 50,000 DWT. This enhancement is advantageous for shipping lines to introduce new services with larger vessels and deeper drafts, while also serving as an extended arm for Tan Cang Cat Lai Terminal, thereby reducing wait times during major holidays in Vietnam and China, such as Vietnam’s National Day on September 2nd and China’s National Day on October 1st.

Tan Cang Hiep Phuoc (Terminal D Cat Lai) is an integral part of Saigon Newport Corporation's (SNP) ecosystem, consisting of four berths at the Tan Cang Cat Lai terminal. Situated in Nha Be District, Ho Chi Minh City, Terminal D Cat Lai is 25 km by waterway from Terminals A/B/C of Tan Cang Cat Lai (TCCL) and 50 km from the Tan Cang Cai Mep Port cluster. This strategic location helps shorten transit times between Ho Chi Minh City and the provinces of Long An, Binh Duong, and Dong Nai, improving connectivity with key industrial zones in Southeast Vietnam and reducing logistics costs for businesses.

To enhance system connectivity between Terminals A/B/C/D of TCCL and consistently improve service quality, SNP has introduced several attractive policies designed to encourage customers and shipping lines to choose Terminal D Cat Lai for their import-export cargo operations:

  • Free Barge Transport: SNP offers free barge transport for import - export containers between Terminals A/B/C and D of TCCL, as well as with associated ICDs in Ho Chi Minh city.
  • Free Storage Charge: Terminal D Cat Lai currently provides free of storage charge for standard containers and 12 hours of free power charge, significantly reducing storage costs compared to other ports in areas.
  • No Additional Waiting Time: Terminal D Cat Lai guarantees that vessels will experience no additional waiting time for berthing or departing, thereby improving operational efficiency and reducing costs for shipping lines. The terminal’s advanced port management system ensures a smooth and timely cargo handling process from arrival to dispatch.
  • Strong commitment for Container Delivery Time: With SNP's extensive and diverse fleet of barges, quantity, and operational frequency, Terminal D Cat Lai commits to delivering 400 TEUs of imported cargo within 24 hours of the vessel’s departure from the port. The remaining cargo will be delivered within the next 24 hours, depending on the volume of each vessel.
  • THC and other Policies: To facilitate and support customers with transportation costs, SNP has implemented a policy to reduce handling fees by 20% at Terminal D Cat Lai and some other special policies will be discussed when the carriers deploy new services.

With the completion of dredging and the increased capacity to accommodate larger vessels, Terminal D Cat Lai remains committed to continuously upgrading its services and infrastructure to meet the evolving needs of its customers. We are proud to offer comprehensive and optimal transport solutions for our partners, customers, and shipping lines. Both SNP and TCHP are dedicated not only to enhancing physical infrastructure but also to pursuing a business strategy centered on sustainable development. We are committed to standing by our customers in all endeavors, ensuring their absolute satisfaction and trust, which, in turn, strengthens our brand reputation and boosts business efficiency.
