From August 21 to 23, 2024, Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP) hosted a delegation of 18 lecturers from the Faculty of Marine Economics, Vietnam Maritime University, who visited key facilities within SNP’s port-logistics ecosystem.
This visit was part of the Faculty of Marine Economics' corporate outreach activities, aimed at enhancing the cooperation between academia and industry, promoting training programs, and fostering recruitment and internship opportunities while updating industry-specific knowledge and practical insights.

On the first day, the lecturers toured the Cai Mep port complex, which includes Tan Cang-Cai Mep International Terminal (TCIT), Tan Cang-Cai Mep Thi Vai Terminal (TCTT), and Tan Cang-Cai Mep Terminal (TCCT). These key ports play a crucial role in connecting international shipping routes and pioneering green port initiatives. The delegation was introduced to port operations, vessel handling capabilities, and SNP’s ongoing infrastructure development projects. The practical knowledge gained during this visit will support lecturers in enhancing educational quality by linking theory with practice.

Faculty of Marine Economics delegation visits and works at Tan Cang Song Than ICD
On August 22, the delegation continued their visit at Tan Cang Long Binh ICD and Tan Cang Song Than ICD, two vital logistics centers of SNP in southern Vietnam. With a total area of 235 hectares, Tan Cang Long Binh ICD plays a critical role in connecting Dong Nai and Binh Duong provinces with major ports in Ho Chi Minh City, offering modern storage, distribution, and logistics management services. Meanwhile, Tan Cang Song Than ICD is the leading logistics hub in southern Vietnam, specializing in warehousing, transportation, and 3PL logistics services. The practical experiences at these facilities provided lecturers with deeper insights into logistics management and operations, enabling them to impart these real-world experiences to their students.

On the final day, the delegation visited Tan Cang Hiep Phuoc - Terminal D Cat Lai (TCHP), which recently completed dredging to enhance its capacity to handle vessels of up to 50,000 DWT. TCHP is now equipped with advanced technologies that optimize operations and ensure safety, meeting the increasing transportation demands of Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta. Here, the delegation was briefed on port infrastructure and logistics development projects, emphasizing the importance of enhancing the capacity to receive large vessels, a key factor in strengthening SNP's position in the region.
Welcoming the delegation from Vietnam Maritime University underscores SNP’s strong commitment to investing in high-quality human resource development and marks a significant step in fostering collaboration between academia and industry. SNP will continue to expand cooperation with educational institutions both domestically and internationally, building a strong workforce to contribute to the sustainable development of Vietnam’s port and logistics sectors.
