After couple months of negotiation, with experience, reputation and highly endorsed trademark, along with intrinsic capability, Logistics Service Center (SNP Logistics) had won a bid and officially deployed the contract providing services for the construction site “Polypropylene (PP) production plant and Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) underground Storage in Vietnam” of Hyosung Chemical Corporation (Korea) at Cai Mep Industrial Park, Phu My Town, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province.

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a heavily impact on all areas of socio-economic life as well as production and trade activities in many countries around the world in general and Vietnam in particular. Therefore, the port operation and logistics industry is one of the 15 main economic sectors of the country affected significantly by the pandemic. In that context, SNP Logistics has made great efforts and deployed many drastic and flexible solutions in the pandemic situation to maintain relatively positive business results.

SNP Logistics deployed services for Hyosung in constructing phase 2 of the Hyosung Chemical plant at Cai Mep, BR-VT

At the beginning of July, SNP Logistics started deploying the following services: custom brokerage, transporting cargo  from Cat Lai Port to the construction site, discharging/unstuffing of cargo for the construction project of the largest solar power plant in Southeast Asia and second worls  largest of those in Ea Sup district, Dak Lak province with a total capacity of 2000 MW. In the package of phase 1 bidding for the plant having capacity equivalent to 600 MW, SNP Logistics deployed 3,000 containers from July 2020 to mid-October 2020 to keep up with the project’s schedule.

Following the initial success, on August 2, 2020, SNP Logistics continued to deploy the 3 largest Out Of Gauge cargo packages ever to be handled at Tan Cang-Cai Mep Port to serve the second phase of constructing “Polypropylene (PP) production plant and Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) underground Storage in Vietnam” for Hyosung Chemical Corporation (Korea) at Cai Mep Industrial Park, Phu My Town, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province. The project has been built on an area of nearly 61 hectares, including 2 works: building an underground storage of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) with a capacity of 240,000 tons; Polypropylene production plant with products: Ethylene, Propylene, Homo and Co polypropylene, Hydrogen, and by-products generated in the production process. This is the largest-scale project ever built in the industrial zone of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province.

In this project, SNP Logistics provides a berth arrangement service for receiving ships and unloading equipment for KCTC customers (the partner receiving the package F2F). On August 2nd 2020, in Cai Mep area, the site and weather conditions were unfavorable, raining and windy, resonating with the simultaneous implementation of measures to prevent disease Covid-19, so the cargo handling faced many difficulties. However, with a lot of experience in lifting / lowering, discharging/ unstuffing cargo and in the drastic and scientific direction and management and the smooth coordination of the system's main units, Tan Cang Cai Mep Container Terminal (TCCT), the Technical Service Joint Stock Company (DVKT) ... has done the necessary preparations to receive all 3 largest super-heavy packages ever through Tan Cang Cai Mep port with total weight is over 3,100 tons. In which, package 1 (Splitter Lower) has a volume of 9,360m3 and weighs 1,700 tons; package 2 (Splitter Middle) with volume of 4,464m3 and weight of 800 tons; Package 3 (Splitter Upper) has a volume of 2,736m3, weighs 600 tons and comes with accessories.

Sharing the joy after the successful deployment of this service, Captain Ho Huynh Thanh Hang, Deputy Director of SNP Logistics commented: “With high discipline in the internal and partner's operaton line, the berth arrangement and the successful loading/unloading of these 3 packages have been recognized and highly appreciated by customers, thereby continuing to affirm the reputation, capability and trademark of SNP Logistics in providing services for big projects. This is one of the different services that create a great new attraction for sales and bidding in the coming time, and at the same time, this is a motivation to improve the skills and professional expertise in handling Out of Gauge cargoes of Saigon Newport Corporation’s internal force. From this experience, Saigon New Port is facing a great opportunity, a positive prospect in participating in large-scale solar and wind power bidding packages - a new trend in the coming time…”.

The event to welcome 3 "biggest" Out of Gauge packages through Cai Mep Port is considered as a bright signal, confirming the right and sustainable operation and business plan for the challenges  in the  non-traditional security situations (such as natural disasters, epidemics ...); continuing the momentum for SNPL to continue its efforts to overcome difficulties and challenges to maintain growth in the coming time, thereby contributing to the promotion of operation and business of the port and the logistics system of the Corporation. This event has also confirmed the determination of SNP to overcome the pandemic and be ready for the post-pandemic recovery period.
