On September 5th 2008, the Deputy Minister of Transport- Mr. Tran Doan Tho and the mission of the representatives of Ministry of transport (M.O.T), the Governmental Office, Ministry of Trade and Commerce, Customs General Department, VCCI and Vinamarine called at SNP. The delegation paid a visit to the berths and CYs of Cat lat port. The delegates were informed about the 16 brand-new RTGs 6 1 equipped at Terminals A & B in the year 2008. The functions, usability and efficiencies of the terminal operating system (TOPX) were also presented. The delegation paid a high attention to the plans for terminal enlargement, development of the post- terminal logistics facilities and post- terminal roads. During the Meeting with the Management of SNP after the visit to Cat Lai port, the Deputy Minister affirmed the importance and position of Cat Lai port in serving the circulation of import- export cargoes in the South Focal Economic Area not only to 2020 but also in the far future thanks to the advantageous location of Cat Lai port for the industrial parks and processing zones of Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong and Dong Nai provinces. The M.O.T is very interested in and gives a constant support to the enlargement of Cat Lai port and the building of the road linking Cat Lai port to Ha Noi highway. The Deputy Minister said that up to now, the road building projects have been prolonged due to the complication and slow speed of the land clearance, therefore with only 7 km connecting Cat Lai port to the Ha Noi highway, the building of the flyover over the existing provincial road No 25 shall be time- and cost- saving. After the business trip to the Southern provinces and meetings with the management of the ports and Vietnam Port Association, the delegation will submit the report and proposals to the Prime Minister concerning the plan of the transport infrastructure and the deployment of the projects, especially the ones relating to the post- terminal logistic facilities and the transport connectivity to the port group in Thi Vai- Cai Mep, to Cat Lai port and Hiep Phuoc port.
