Saigon Newport Corporation receives M/V Hanjin Chennai

On September 24th 2016, at Cat Lai Terminal, Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP) received M/V Hanjin Chennai to berth at Berth No.3 and then discharged the cargo on the vessel.
In recent weeks SNP has worked closely with Hanjin Shipping (HJS) to figure out the solution for vessel berthing and handling as soon as possible to ease the difficulties for the consignees who have containers on the vessel. Earlier this month, M/v Hanjin Chennai (voyage No.0049E) planned to berth Cat Lai on September 1st for discharging the cargo, however the vessel then did not follow the plan.
After continuous exchanges with related parties, SNP agreed with HJS to receive the vessel on September 24th as mentioned earlier and SNP had conducted the handling with high productivity (105.4 moves/hour), then 833 containers were discharged from the vessel (in which there were 773 laden and 60 empty containers). After handling completion, M/V Hanjin Chennai departed at 17:45 within the same day.
In order to create the best conditions for consignees to receive the cargo, SNP and HJS agreed that all of the containers operated by HJS discharged from M/V Hanjin Chennai shall have the final destination and delivered at Cat Lai Terminal, other consignees who also has containers on this vessel but the operator is the share slot with Hanjin (i.e Heung-A, KMTC, Sinokor ….) shall receive the cargo at the Place of Delivery noted in the Bill.
At the moment, all of the containers at Cat Lai Terminal are ready to deliver to the customers who has completed the formalities at shipping lines and customs agency. The Hanjin’s containers delivery shall be continued in accordance with Notice No. 1511/TB-TCT (in Vietnamese) issued on September 1st 2016.
