Tan Cang Cai Mep International Terminal (TCIT): "Welcome back home, PN2 Service by THE Alliance!"

Tan Cang Cai Mep International Terminal (TCIT):

On May 11, 2023, the maiden call of PN2 service - THE alliance successfully arrived at Tan Cang - Cai Mep International Terminal (TCIT), connecting Vietnam to the U.S. West Coast. PN2 is the 6th service at TCIT operated by THE alliance. Deciding TCIT as the leading port in the Cai Mep area benefits THE alliance saves costs for domestic transshipment within the region and expands its network connectivity, providing customers with more options. On this occasion, TCIT was honored with the "Best Partner Provider 2022" award from HMM shipping.

This event further reinforces the trust in TCIT's service quality among THE Alliance members and solidifies the long-term partnership between TCIT and THE Alliance.

PN2 Service – Operated by THE Alliance, the World's Second Largest Container Shipping Alliance


PN2 service’s rotation: SINGAPORE-LAEM CHABANG-TCIT-HICT-YANTIAN-TACOMA-VANCOUVER-TOKYO-KOBE- SINGAPORE. This service is supported by a fleet of eight mother vessels with an average capacity of 13,000 TEU.

THE Alliance consists of prominent container shipping lines, including Ocean Network Express from Japan, Hapag-Lloyd from Germany, Yang Ming from Taiwan, and HMM from South Korea.
Their combined fleet has a capacity of up to 3.03 million TEU, representing 12% of the total container shipping market by sea. As the world's second-largest container shipping alliance, THE Alliance operates six international services weekly, connecting Vietnam's import and export goods at TCIT port to major ports in the United States, Canada, and Europe.

Choosing TCIT as the primary port in the Cai Mep area for all six services of THE Alliance not only increases TCIT's throughput but also reduces inland transit costs within the region. Consequently, this enhances the competitiveness of Vietnam's export products in the international market. Moreover, the connection to major ports in the United States, Canada, and Europe expands the market and provides additional options for Vietnamese businesses. TCIT's role as the hub for THE Alliance's services contributes significantly to Vietnam's economic and international trade development.

On this occasion, TCIT is honored to be awarded as the “Best Partner Provider 2022” by HMM for its ongoing commitment and continuously dedicated service to HMM in 2022.

Despite the challenges faced by the global economy and the maritime transport industry, Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP), in partnership with leading shipping lines, continues to maintain its position as the foremost port operator and logistics service provider in Vietnam. In the first four months of 2023, TCIT/SNP accounted for 52% market share in the Cai Mep-Thi Vai area. Nationwide, SNP’s port ecosystem handled 56% of the country's import and export container volume.

In conclusion, the PN2 service operated by THE Alliance, in collaboration with TCIT, has further strengthened Vietnam's trade connections with key international markets. TCIT's selection as the primary port for THE Alliance's services signifies its significance in facilitating trade and contributing to the country's economic growth.
