In 2021, TCIT receives 350 mother vessels of 10 international service routes connecting the Southern key economic region of Vietnam with major export markets such as the US, Europe and Asian countries. The total throughput volume in 2021 is expected to reach nearly 2.1 million TEUs, accounting for 40% of the market share of the Cai Mep - Thi Vai area. Continuing to maintain the position of the largest deep-water port in the country and the terminal with the second-largest throughput in Vietnam, after Tan Cang - Cat Lai terminal in Ho Chi Minh City.
In the context of the heavy effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the social life and economy of Vietnam, as well as its consequences leading to the disruption of the global supply chain, the fact that more than 2,000,000 TEUs throughput is an impressive result, illustrating the efforts and determination to both prevent and control the outbreak while maintaining the effective terminal operation of TCIT. Moreover, this milestone is a proof of our shipping lines’ trust when continuously deploying new service routes, large-sized vessels and high volume. This has supported TCIT to continue to maintain operational efficiency during many ups and downs.
With the motto of 16 golden words "Expanding cooperation, accelerating investment, improving competitiveness, doing business effectively", TCIT has been determined to turn the difficulties and challenges of 2021 into opportunities to implement the digital transformation and information technology application (e-Port, e-DO, online payment, electronic customs) to constantly innovate, build a professional and modern terminal, as well as provide our valued customers with the most convenient, transparent, fast and simplifies procedures, helping save time, costs and bringing satisfaction in service quality at TCIT. With those efforts, the year 2021 TCIT will be marked by historical events of TCIT in particular and of Vietnam's seaport industry in general, when 15,615 TEUs on vessel MONACO BRIDGE were successfully handled in June, and a new record of handling productivity with up to 238.08 containers/hour/vessel for ONE COLUMBA vessel was established in December.
Filled with the joy of reaching the milestone of 2,000,000 TEU throughput for the second time continuously during the challenging period of 2020-2021, and on the occasion of welcoming the new year 2022, TCIT would like to send our deepest appreciation to all shipping lines and customers who have trusted to use TCIT's services; all agencies, departments, partners, shareholders who have always given care, support and created favorable conditions for TCIT to overcome difficulties and achieve this landmark.
