Tan Cang Cai Mep Terminal received International Cruise Ships After 2 Years
On 02/09/2023, Tan Cang-Cai Mep Terminal (TCCT) welcomed the first international tourist ship MEIN SCHIFF 05 on its Southeast Asian itinerary, which returned to the port after a 2-year suspension due to the impact of Covid-19, marking the recovery and development of the Vietnamese tourism industry.
The MEIN SCHIFF 5 is a Malta-flagged ship built in 2016 and owned by TUI Cruises, with a length of 295.3m, width of 35.8m, total weight of 98.785 GT, and capacity for over 2,500 passengers and 1,200 crew members. The ship arrived at TCCT (Phu My, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province) on 02/09/2023 with 900 crew members and 2,200 tourists (mostly German citizens) on the 9th day of its 15-day itinerary.
With its Southeast Asian itinerary of Singapore – Port Klang (Malaysia) – Langkawi (Malaysia) – Penang (Malaysia) – Phu My/Ho Chi Minh (Vietnam) – Koh Samui (Thailand) - Laem Chabang (Thailand) – Singapore; the MEIN SCHIFF 5 only docked at TCCT (Phu My, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province) for a short time before continuing its journey to Thailand.
The arrival of the MEIN SCHIFF 5 marks a positive sign for the development and recovery of the Vietnamese tourism industry, especially in the context of the gradually improving epidemic in the world.
TCCT (Tan Cang Cai Mep) is a member unit of Tan Cang Sai Gon Corporation, with the position of being the first deep-water port in Vietnam in the Cai Mep - Thi Vai area, with the ability to receive cargo ships with a capacity of up to 160,000 DWT. With the aim of "Expanding cooperation and partnership, improving service quality and conducting effective business," TCCT has continuously invested, upgraded infrastructure, and strengthened cooperation with major partners such as Ba Son Port Terminal (exploiting and receiving project cargo and wind power equipment) and Vietnam KCTC Terminal B - Tan Cang Cai Mep (investing and building suitable investment solutions for each stage of port and yard exploitation services; developing logistics solutions in the crucial southern area). In the early days of 2023, the events of receiving international tourist ships at ports in the Tan Cang Sai Gon system were witnessed in succession, which opened up many opportunities not only for the local tourism industry in general but also for TCCT port in particular, to develop the potential business segment of receiving tourist ships and create a year of development in 2023, achieving the target of acquiring more and more tourist ships, creating new and more valuable services, and becoming a prestigious port in the region.
