08/12/2018

On 07 December 2018, Tan Cang – Cai Mep International Co., Ltd (TCIT) solemnly hold “The 1.5M TEU Welcoming Celebration at TCIT In 2018 and Customer Appreciation Party”.

Tan Cang– Cai Mep International Terminal (called as TCIT ) was established in 2009 as a joint venture initiated by Saigon Newport Corporation, the biggest container terminal operator in Vietnam, and 3 foreign partners; originally Hanjin Shipping and now Hanjin Transportation from Korea, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines from Japan, and, Wan Hai Lines from Taiwan.

As a demonstration of sustainable development, TCIT continues to achieve impressive achievements in 2018: receiving 527 mother vessels of 10 international service routes, of which nearly 30 vessels have the capacity more than 14,000 TEUs. It is proven that TCIT has the possibility to accommodate large containers vessels. Throughput volume in 2018 is expected to exceed 1.6 million TEUs, accounting for 55% of the market share in Cai Mep - Thi Vai deep-water container port. This volume is five times more than  those of the first year of operations and if barge volume (80% of handling volume) has been also  included, the total throughput of TCIT approximately reaches 2.9 million TEUs

Until now, TCIT has been taking steps to provide better service quality by improving handling productivity, giving 24/7 customer support, simplifying customs clearance   procedures, and maximizing  the connection by road and by water way from TCIT to Ho Chi Minh city  by offering supportive pricing policies for clients. In addition, TCIT applies many preferential policies to encourage the direct receipt/delivery of containers at Terminal. Especially in the coming time, TCIT will implement E-port and EDO, these integrated programs help connect with specialized authorities via Vietnam National Single Window to facilitate customs clearance. Further reinforcement of terminal capacity will be implemented in the next year by adding one of the biggest Ship-to-Shore crane in Vietnam and two units of ERTG. These additional cranes shall make TCIT be easy to handle the vessels up to 18,000 TEU or even larger… as well as to maximize the convenience for customers to deliver directly at the port.

TCIT wishes to send the deepest gratitude to all shipping lines, customers for the good support & cooperation and high appreciation to the related authorities, the shareholders and SNP for the kind assistance and facilitation.. TCIT will keep on improving service quality, widening the network connectivity, facilitating customs procedure for clients as well as contributing to local industry in particular and Vietnam economy in general so as to become not only  a significant terminal for the import/export of Vietnam, but also an attracting transshipment hub of the region.
