Tan Cang Hiep Phuoc Welcomes the first General Cargo Ship in 2024

On the morning of April 1st, in Nha Be district, Ho Chi Minh City, Tan Cang Hiep Phuoc terminal (Terminal D of Tan Cang Cat Lai) marked an important milestone in bulk cargo handling volume by welcoming the Nam Phat 08 vessel, transporting 7685 tons of gypsum from Quang Ninh. This is considered the largest general cargo ship ever to dock at TCHP.

Following the strategy to strengthen the three business pillars of Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP), and effectively utilizing operational capacity, Terminal D of Tan Cang Cat Lai terminal (TCCL) has provided comprehensive logistics services, including booking general cargo ships, transportation, and loading onto customer's vehicles, while actively supporting the receiving and processing of goods.

The Nam Phat 08, with a payload of 8000 tons and a length of 96.8m, is not only a means of domestic goods transportation in Vietnam and Southeast Asian countries, but also positive signals for economic recovery after facing difficulties in 2023. This ship specializes in transporting gypsum to meet construction demands in the Southern region.

The successful reception of the Nam Phat 08 general cargo ship is not only proof of Terminal D Tan Cang Cat Lai's capacity, but also shows the trust of shipping lines, shipping agents, and cargo owners in the port's service quality. This is a commitment from Terminal D and the SNP port ecosystem on their 35-year journey of building and developing alongside customers and shipping lines; not just as a partner, but also as a trusted companion on the path to sustainable development.

Terminal D of Tan Cang Cat Lai is continuing to upgrade dock quality, accelerate maintenance, dredging, and improve service quality. Expected in the second quarter of 2024, the port will complete dredging to -11 m in front of the dock (channel -11.3m), capable of accommodating ships with a payload of up to 50,000 DWT (55,000 DWT when lightened), to meet all requirements of Shipping lines/customers.

With modern infrastructure and experienced staff, Terminal D Tan Cang Cat Lai - Tan Cang Hiep Phuoc terminal continues to affirm its position as an extended arm of TCCL, connecting Ho Chi Minh City region's goods with the Mekong Delta, Cai Mep, and serving as a consolidation point for transit goods to the Cambodian market.
