TCIT Welcomes the maiden call of FE1 Service - Expanding Asia - Europe connectivity

On the morning of April 18, 2026, Tan Cang – Cai Mep International Terminal (TCIT) successfully received M/V ONE HANGZHOU BAY, marking the inaugural call of the FE1 service operated by the Premier Alliance. This milestone further reinforces TCIT’s role in expanding intercontinental connectivity, particularly along the Asia–Europe trade lane.

The FE1 service provides direct connectivity between key markets in Asia and Europe, including Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, the Netherlands, Germany, and Spain, with the following rotation: Laem Chabang – Cai Mep (TCIT) – Singapore – Cape of Good Hope – Rotterdam – Hamburg – Algeciras – Cape of Good Hope – Singapore – Laem Chabang. The service offers a stable and direct routing option, enhancing logistics efficiency for import-export enterprises engaged in Asia–Europe trade.

Amid ongoing geopolitical uncertainties impacting the global shipping market, the introduction of the FE1 service plays a critical role in maintaining and strengthening trade connectivity between Vietnam and Europe. Cargo demand along this corridor remains robust, supported by steady trade growth. Since the EU–Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) came into effect in 2020, bilateral trade has increased from USD 55.4 billion to nearly USD 74 billion in 2025 (approximately 34% growth). In 2025 alone, Vietnam’s exports to Europe reached USD 56.2 billion (up 8.6%), with a record trade surplus of USD 38.6 billion, driven by key commodities such as electronics, textiles, footwear, steel, and agro-aquatic products. As tariff reductions continue to be implemented, demand for reliable and direct shipping services is expected to grow further.

The continued selection of TCIT by the Premier Alliance for new service deployments underscores the terminal’s strategic position within the regional shipping network, as well as the confidence of global carriers in TCIT’s operational capabilities, service quality, and adaptability in a dynamic market environment.

With its modern infrastructure, consistent operational productivity, and the capability to accommodate ultra-large container vessels (ULCVs) of up to 173,724 DWT, TCIT continues to enhance its capacity to serve long-haul trade lanes such as Asia–Europe and Asia–U.S. routes. The terminal further solidifies its role as a strategic deep-water gateway, directly connecting Vietnam to major international shipping networks. In parallel, TCIT is accelerating digital transformation initiatives and advancing green port development, aiming to optimize terminal operations and meet increasingly stringent customer and market requirements.

Looking ahead, TCIT remains committed to partnering with shipping lines to optimize terminal operations, enhance schedule reliability, and elevate service quality, thereby contributing to the continued strengthening of the Cai Mep – Thi Vai port cluster within the global supply chain.
