Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway: Expanding Logistics Connectivity to Southern Vietnam’s Seaport Gateways

Officially opened to traffic along its entire route on October 1, 2026, the Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway provides an additional transport corridor between western Ho Chi Minh City and southeastern Vietnam. The project not only strengthens regional connectivity but also gives importers and exporters more options for cargo transportation, access to seaport gateways, and logistics services in southern Vietnam.

A New Transport Link for Southern Vietnam’s Logistics Network

Nearly 58 kilometers long, with four motor-vehicle lanes, two emergency stopping lanes, and a design speed of 100 km/h, the Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway adds an important route linking the Ben Luc area with Long Thanh. It provides an additional transport corridor between the Mekong Delta, southern Ho Chi Minh City, and Dong Nai Province.

For import-export businesses, the new expressway creates another option for moving goods from industrial parks to southern Vietnam’s seaport network, giving businesses greater flexibility in choosing suitable routes. Through connecting roads, companies have more options for organizing container transport, arranging cargo handover points, and selecting import-export gateways that meet their operational needs.

The additional transport corridor also helps make logistics-chain planning more flexible, facilitating links between cargo originating in western production areas and the seaport network and international transport services in southeastern Vietnam.

Connecting Production Areas with Saigon Newport’s Port Network

Tan Cang – Hiep Phuoc: Connecting Cargo from Southern Ho Chi Minh City

Located in southern Ho Chi Minh City, Tan Cang – Hiep Phuoc Terminal (TCHP) is well positioned to connect cargo from industrial parks in southern Ho Chi Minh City, Long An Province, and nearby areas.

The full opening of the Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway provides an additional access route to TCHP from the west via connecting roads and the Nguyen Van Tao interchange. This gives businesses another option for transporting containers from production areas to the port, in combination with seaborne transport and logistics services within Saigon Newport Corporation’s network.

As one link in Saigon Newport Corporation’s port system, TCHP helps expand the network serving import-export cargo and strengthen connections between production areas, seaports, and related logistics services.

Cai Mep – Thi Vai: Access to Deep-Sea Shipping Routes

The Cai Mep – Thi Vai port complex plays an important role in southern Vietnam’s deep-water port network. It can accommodate large container vessels and is served by mainline services connecting directly to international markets such as the United States and Europe.

Through the National Highway 51 interchange, the Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway provides an additional access route to the Cai Mep – Thi Vai area from the west, creating more opportunities to connect cargo from the Mekong Delta and southern Ho Chi Minh City with deep-water ports serving long-haul maritime transport.

For Saigon Newport Corporation, connectivity between TCHP, ports in the Cai Mep – Thi Vai area, and related logistics services helps broaden its ability to serve different cargo origins and transport requirements—from regional shipping routes to long-haul international services.

More Routing Options for Importers and Exporters

At nearly 58 kilometers long, with four motor-vehicle lanes and two emergency stopping lanes, the Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway provides an additional route from the Mekong Delta to southeastern Vietnam without requiring vehicles to travel deep into central Ho Chi Minh City. According to the Government News portal, the route cuts travel time by more than one hour compared with the previous journey. This gives businesses a basis for planning vehicle deployment and cargo handovers more proactively.

For Saigon Newport Corporation’s customers, the expressway opens up two access routes to seaports: via the Nguyen Van Tao interchange to reach Tan Cang – Hiep Phuoc, or via the National Highway 51 interchange to connect with TCIT, TCTT, and TCCT terminals in Cai Mep – Thi Vai. The time saved on any given journey depends on the origin, destination port, and traffic conditions on connecting roads.

By combining the new road corridor with Saigon Newport Corporation’s network of ports, inland container depots (ICDs), depots, and barge services, businesses gain more options for organizing transport according to cargo origins, vessel schedules, and import-export markets. The practical benefit lies in the flexibility to combine road and waterborne transport, plan container deliveries to ports more proactively, and meet cargo delivery deadlines.

Looking ahead, as regional transport infrastructure continues to develop—including Ho Chi Minh City’s Ring Road 3 and port-access roads such as the Cat Lai Inter-Port Road—the logistics network in southern Vietnam will have further opportunities to strengthen links between production areas and import-export gateways.

Building on its integrated port and logistics ecosystem, Saigon Newport Corporation will continue to leverage network connectivity and diversify solutions for customers, helping improve supply-chain efficiency and connect Vietnamese cargo with international markets.
