On November 10, 2023, Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP) held a seminar with nearly 300 guests, including the leadership of the Binh Duong Customs Department, relevant agencies, enterprises, industry associations, and management boards of industrial zones in the region. Over the years, SNP has played a vital role as a bridge and maintained smooth connectivity for the supply chain of Vietnamese products to the global market. The event created a forum for sharing and exchanging ideas between relevant agencies and enterprises.

Mr. Bui Van Quy - Deputy General Director of SNP delivered the opening speech at the conference

Binh Duong has stayed attractive to investors through trade promotion, connections, and expansions of markets for imports and exports. The province's export turnover in the first 10 months reached USD 43.424 billion, with a trade surplus of USD 7.17 billion. In the first 10 months of 2023 alone, the province attracted over USD 1.34 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI). In the 2020-2023 period, Binh Duong successfully attracted FDI totaling USD 9.56 billion, surpassing the set target for the entire 2020-2025 period of over USD 9 billion.
Mr. Nguyen Tran Hieu - Director of Binh Duong Customs shared trade insights on administrative reforms and customs modernization during the conference
At the conference, Binh Duong Customs' directors shared with companies the administrative reform and modernization of customs procedures to facilitate trade. This was a topic many enterprises sought to understand to comply with relevant laws and regulations. Given the nature of managing import-export companies primarily, especially foreign investment in production and processing for exports, Binh Duong Customs emphasized its commitment to improving cooperation and dialogue to overcome obstacles and provide convenience to companies.

According to Mr. Nguyen Tran Hieu, the Director of Binh Duong Customs, the customs department has concretized activities geared towards facilitating enterprises through an overarching strategic goal and a development roadmap towards a digital customs vision. Specifically addressed in the conference were five major objective groups with 19 specific goals, including objectives related to facilitating commerce, data sharing across departments, security and revenue assurance, customs compliance and management, and optimizing customs operations.
Ms. Do Thu Huong - Marketing Deputy Director of SNP proposed an Integrated Port and Logistics Ecosystem solution
Binh Duong's position is crucial to the logistics network and economic development of the Southeast region. However, challenges such as inadequate intra-regional and inter-regional transportation infrastructure, lack of large logistics centers, high logistics costs, and insufficient connectivity within and outside the region still hinder the development of logistics. Ms. Do Thu Huong, Marketing Deputy Director of SNP, proposed an Integrated Port and Logistics Ecosystem solution, which incorporates digital ecosystem applications, to address these challenges. The focus is on green logistics solutions, particularly the Thanh Phuoc Port - Saigon Newport - Tan Cang Cat Lai terminal waterway route and the cluster of ports in Cai Mep, pioneering eco-friendly transportation methods for customers, acting as an extended arm to bring ports closer to customer factories. A new depot, Tan Cang - Tan Van, located in the central coordination area for Binh Duong, Dong Nai, and Ho Chi Minh City, was introduced to provide container management services, enhancing convenience for enterprises in the region.
