Tan Cang – Da Nang depot: New development of SNP in the central

On September 6th 2016, Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP) held the opening ceremony of Tan Cang – Da Nang Depot which is located at 98 Yet Kieu, Son Tra ward, Da Nang city. Together with Tan Cang – Mien Trung terminal (at Quy Nhon city, Binh Dinh Province) and Da Nang terminal, the depot is considered to be an important premise for SNP to develop logistics services in Central area, thus to complete the logistics services of SNP through SNP Logistics brand.

Da Nang is one of the leading economic centers of Vietnam, also being the focal city in the Central key economic zone. In the first 6 months of 2016, exports–turnover in Da Nang reached 446.3 million USD, up 4.65% over the same period last year and imports-turnover is estimated at 398.8 million USD, up 2.91% over the same period last year. The major products of Da Nang include electricity, electronics, information technology and software; new materials production; computer, peripheral devices, office machines; mechanical products, precision measuring equipment, medical equipment; textiles, footwear. In addition, other major products of Da Nang and neighboring area are golden sand, clinker, iron and steel, fertilizers and animal fodders.

To expand market share in Da Nang region and neighboring area, SNP Logistics currently focuses on providing full package logistics service for customers with forestry products, plastic pellets, animal fodders, fertilizers, equipments for constructing projects… and continue to expand the services to Laos, Thailand, develop of logistics services on the East-West economics corridor, increase the transport capacity of the system.

In the SNPL’s development strategy in the Central, Tan Cang – Da Nang depot plays an important role since it has the strategic location in the region, near the Tien Sa port and highway axis, which would be convenient to container receival/delivery and could reduce pressure on the Tien Sa port in peak times. Thank to these advantages, the shipping lines have pledged to transfer more empty containers to this depot for customers to easily pick-up.
In the near future, SNP and its subsidiaries will deploy shipping services connecting Da Nang to the other key economic areas, develop storage services, shipping agency, cargo agency, as well as develop the cooperation with local ports and logistics partners to continue to assert the leading brand of SNP in the fields of terminal operators, logistics services and shipping services providers.
