Wanhai Lines And BDS-MOL Joint Venture raise ship calls at Cat Lai Port

Since October 07, 2006, two vessels namely Vinashin Trader & Vinashin Freighter of BDS-MOL (Bien Dong Shipping & Mitsui OSK Lines) Joint-venture have increased ship calls by two per week at Cat Lai Port. Extended rotations are as follows: Singapore – Ho Chi Minh (Cat Lai – Ben Nghe) – Hai Phong – Ho Chi Minh (Ben Nghe – Cat Lai).

Since October 07, 2006, two vessels namely Vinashin Trader & Vinashin Freighter of BDS-MOL (Bien Dong Shipping & Mitsui OSK Lines) Joint-venture have increased ship calls by two per week at Cat Lai Port. Extended rotations are as follows: Singapore – Ho Chi Minh (Cat Lai – Ben Nghe) – Hai Phong – Ho Chi Minh (Ben Nghe – Cat Lai). Originally with one ship call per week for outbound cargoes only, BDS-MOL has now operated inbound activities via Cat Lai Port. Recently, 242 teus of Vinashin Trader were discharged at Cat Lai Port on October 07, 2006, a noticeable growth in throughput.

Meanwhile, as for a sustained cargoes growth, there has constantly been a requirement for more ship calls for Wanhai Lines. Starting October 22, 2006, Wanhai Lines will operate 03 more vessels named Inga S (1,100 teus), Victoria Strait and Reflection (1,010 teus). Similar to two current vessels calling schedule, the new rotation includes additional stops: Ho Chi Minh (Cat Lai – VICT) – KHH – HKG – Shekou – TYO – YOK – SHA – HKG – Da Nang – Ho Chi Minh (Cat Lai – VICT). Inga S is supposed to call at Cat Lai Port for the first time on October 22, 2006. With this service, Cat Lai Port throughput is bound to increase significantly.
